Senkin has a rich history dating back to 1806 in Sakura City, Tochigi Prefecture, during the late Edo period (1606-1868). The name "Senkin" is derived from the majestic crane, a bird often associated with hermits, and it has been cherished as the brewery's name through the generations. The essence of the Senkin brand is rooted in harmonizing the best of both old and new manufacturing traditions, encapsulated in the concept of "Nature x Tradition." Their overarching policy is to cultivate a domaine where every grain of raw rice is sourced from their own rice fields, situated on the same underground water vein as their brewing water. This commitment to quality and sustainability lies at the heart of Senkin's artisanal approach to sake production.
